The Buckland Retirement Village is set on 25 acres of a total 127 acres of bush
land only one kilometre from the centre of Springwood, which is situated in the heart of
the Blue Mountains, New South Wales. The area is serviced with two shopping centres, one
at Springwood and the other at Winmalee some five kilometres north of Springwood.
Springwood is also serviced by a private bus company and is only 20 minutes from Penrith
and 75 minutes from the centre of Sydney by train. The area also caters for most church
denominations and has a number of sporting, recreational and tourist attractions close at
hand.
The Village (self care) was established in 1985 and currently provides 124 self care units and cottages in addition to Buckland house (high care facility), and the Donald Coburn Lodge (low care facility). The range of accommodation in self care has been designed to suit most needs:
Each unit or cottage has wheelchair access and comes complete with whitegoods, carpet and blinds.
Buckland is also able to offer residents of the self care units, on a fee for
service basis, assistance with domestic, banking and nursing services as well as provision
of meals to units.
