Influenza Outbreak

Dear Residents, Representatives and Staff

I am writing to provide an update regarding the current Influenza A outbreak in Thomas Buckland Wing of the facility.

We now have two confirmed positive cases of Influenza A. We have 2 pending swab results in, 1 x resident in the Thomas Buckland Wing, and 1x resident in the Liz Roberts Wing.

We continue to follow our Acute Respiratory Management Plan, including enhanced monitoring of Residents for any symptoms. N95 masks, shield/goggles remain required for all staff and encouraged for visitors, Residents who wish to wear a mask will be supported to do so.

In addition, two staff members have tested positive for Influenza A, and we are cohorting staff to designated wings where possible to further mitigate risk.

Please be reassured that we are taking all possible measures to minimise risk. We are adhering to all internal procedures and are in close contact with the Public Health Unit, following all required guidance.
