Outbreak Update
Dear Families, Relatives, Staff and Stakeholders,
We would like to provide you with an update on the current status within our facility as of 19 September 2025.
DCW is now a green zone. All residents who were previously affected by HMPV have fully recovered and been cleared.
In LRW, there are currently 6 active cases of COVID-19, and 3 additional residents are awaiting PCR results. We continue to monitor the situation closely, with residents receiving daily health checks and strict infection control measures in place.
Staff Update & Infection Control Measures
- All staff are required to wear N95 masks and either face shields or goggles while in the facility. Full PPE is required when attending to COVID-positive residents.
- Daily RAT testing is mandatory for all staff prior to entry.
- Wherever possible, staff are being cohorted to specific wings to reduce cross-infection risks. Staff rooms have also been designated by wing to minimise cross-over and potential transmission.
Visitor Information
- Visitors are required to wear surgical masks while in the facility.
- A RAT is required upon entry.
- N95 masks are available upon request for visitors who prefer to use them.
Additional Infection Control Measures
- Daily Outbreak Management Plan meetings are being held.
- Second daily RAT testing is being conducted in LRW.
- The facility continues to work closely with our Infection Control Lead and the Public Health Unit to ensure all measures follow best-practice guidelines.
- HEPA filters remain in operation, and we encourage increased ventilation throughout the facility.
- Tray service is encouraged to minimise potential spread.
- Two-step cleaning procedures remain in place across all areas.
- Activities and exercise programs remain isolated to affected wings, and residents are encouraged to wear masks if they wish to participate.
We sincerely thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation in helping us keep our residents safe.
If you have any questions or require further information, please contact the facility on (02) 4752 2500.
Warm Regards,
Buckland Clinical Management team
