Dear Residents, Relatives and Staff,

COVID-19 Update – Donald Coburn Wing (DCW)

As of today, six (6) residents in the Donald Coburn Wing (DCW) remain COVID-19 positive.

On 30 September 2025, a round of Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) was conducted for all residents in the Donald Coburn Lodge (DCL), with all results returning negative.

Resident Care & Lifestyle

  • Residents in DCW are encouraged to take meals in their rooms, though they may continue to dine in the dining area if they prefer.
  • Group activities will continue to be conducted separately in each section.
  • Residents participating in activities are strongly encouraged to wear a surgical mask and maintain social distancing where possible.
  • Use of outdoor spaces is encouraged when weather conditions permit.

Staff Precautions

  • All staff must complete a RAT prior to commencing their shift.
  • Staff are required to always wear N95 masks and face shields while in the facility.
  • As DCW is currently classified as a High-Risk Area, staff must don full PPE before entering any resident’s room.

Visitor Guidance

  • Visitors are encouraged to undertake a RAT prior to entry and to wear a surgical mask while in the facility.
  • Please note that this is strongly recommended but not mandatory.

Infection Control & Safety

We kindly remind everyone of the importance of:

  • Practising strict infection control procedures and hand hygiene.
  • Utilising the alcohol-based sanitisers provided throughout the facility.
  • Remaining vigilant for any flu-like or respiratory symptoms in staff, residents, or visitors, and reporting promptly to the RN or management team for advice and management.

We extend our sincere gratitude to residents, families, and staff for your continued support and cooperation in helping us keep our community safe.

If you have any questions or require clarification, please do not hesitate to contact the facility on (02) 4752 2500.

Warm Regards,

Buckland Clinical Management team
