COVID-19 Outbreak: 6pm update
Dear Relatives and Friends of Buckland,
As per our previous advice, we have entered a “hard” lockdown due to a staff member returning a positive COVID-19 test.
The employee last worked a night shift on the 10th of September in the Matron Rothery Wing (MRW) before testing positive earlier today.
All residents at Buckland are currently in isolation and onsite cohorting is in place for all staff and residents of MRW.
All residents in the facility have already been tested and we are expecting the first results to come back early tomorrow morning. We are currently in the process of testing all staff including those that are currently not onsite.
We are not aware of any confirmed active cases within the facility and we are working closely with the Public Health Unit and the Department of Health to ensure that residents are being as safe as possible.
Over the next seven days, we will be conducting daily COVID-19 tests for all staff and residents.
As per our Infection control policies, the staff caring for our residents will be required to wear full Personal Protective Equipment during their shifts.
Please be reassured that we have been preparing for a situation like this and I am confident that we can work through this together. Senior management will remain on site and will be able to answer all your questions and provide support as needed. Our Infection Control Lead will also remain on site and provide support and oversight for both infection control and correct donning and doffing procedures. Please stay safe.
As you know, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Virginia Mitchell, our Facility Manager on (02) 4752 2500.
