COVID-19 Outbreak: December
Dear Relatives and Friends of Buckland,
Effective immediately, Buckland Aged Care Facility will be entering a hard lockdown. A staff member who last worked on the 20th December 2021 has tested positive for COVID-19 today, 21st December 2021.
Rest assured, we have notified the Public Health Unit and the outbreak management plan has been activated.
Please note that all residents are now placed in isolation and we will commence testing for all residents.
As per our Infection control policies, the staff caring for our residents will be required to wear full Personal Protective Equipment during their shifts to protect them.
We understand the emotions and anxiety you may be feeling for a loved one, but please remember that we have a wonderful team who are doing their absolute best to care for the residents in the safest way possible. This is the time where we must all remain patient and calm.
Unfortunately, due to the current situation, we are unable to facilitate window visits but we will do our best to facilitate Skype calls. We will continue to update you of any changes at least once daily.
We are deeply saddened that these conditions have occurred just a few days before Christmas but we have gotten through this before and are well equipped and prepared for a situation like this. I am confident that we can work through it together again for what we hope is the last time.
As always, senior management will remain on site and will be able to answer all your questions and provide support as needed. Our Infection Control Lead will also remain on site and provide support and oversight for both infection control and correct donning and doffing procedures.
Please stay safe. As you know, if you have any questions or concern, please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Virginia Mitchell, our Facility Manager via the nursing home reception on (02) 4752 2500.
