Dear Relatives and Friends of Buckland,

Effective immediately, Buckland Aged Care Facility will be entering a hard lockdown. A staff member who has who last worked on the 21st August 2021, tested positive on the 24th August with COVID-19.

Rest assured, we currently do not have any confirmed active cases within the facility, however, we have notified the Public Health Unit and the outbreak management plan has been activated.

Please note, all residents are now placed in isolation and we have commenced testing for all residents.

As per our Infection control policies, the staff caring for our residents will be required to wear full Personal Protective Equipment during their shifts to protect them.

Please rest assured that they will still be cared for by our wonderful team. We understand that this is a traumatic and emotional situation for all of you. Like you, we are all so tired of this virus dictating our every move. However, now is the time where we all must be particularly kind, patient and careful.

Unfortunately, due to the current situation, we are unable to facilitate window visits but will do our best to facilitate Skype calls. We will continue to update you of any developments at least once daily.

Please be reassured that we have been preparing for a situation like this and I am confident that we can work through this together. Senior management will remain on site 24/7 and will be able to answer all your questions and provide support as needed. Our Infection Control Lead will also remain on site and provide support and oversight for both infection control and correct donning and doffing procedures. Please stay safe.

As you know, if you have any questions or concern, please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Virginia Mitchell our Facility Manager on (02) 4752 2500.

Kind Regards,

Johannes Brockhaus
Chief Executive Officer
