Dear Residents, Relatives, and Employees of Buckland,

We would like to inform you that we currently have three residents in the Thomas Buckland Wing and one resident in the Donald Coburn Wing who have tested positive for COVID-19. Additionally, four residents have been diagnosed with Human Metapneumovirus RNA.

Considering these circumstances, the Matron Rothery Wing and Thomas Buckland Wing will now be designated as Red Zones.

In abundance of precaution:

Group activities and exercise sessions are suspended until further notice.

  • Residents in the Thomas Buckland Wing and Matron Rothery Wing are encouraged to take their meals in their rooms to minimize the risk of transmission.
  • All staff and visitors must complete a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) prior to entry and wear an N95 mask while inside the facility.

Operational Adjustments for Staff:

  • Staff will use designated entry and exit points specific to the wing in which they are working.
  • Staff breaks will be cohort-specific to ensure separation between wings.

Visitor Guidelines:

  • Visitors are to enter the facility through the main entrance. Masks and RAT kits will be provided at the reception area.
  • Visitors and staff attending to COVID-19-positive residents must wear an N95 mask and full PPE, which must be removed immediately after leaving the resident's room.

To further reduce the risk of transmission, we strongly encourage all staff and visitors to:

  • Practice frequent handwashing.
  • Utilize the hand sanitizers available throughout the facility.

If you experience any cold or flu-like symptoms, we kindly request that you refrain from entering the premises.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at (02) 4752 2500.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we prioritize the health and safety of our residents and staff.

Kind Regards
