Covid-19 Update
Dear Residents, Staff and Representatives,
I would like to provide you with a facility update as of 17/06/2025
At present we have 8 x active Covid19 cases and 2 x resident positive for Respiratory Syncytial virus (RSV) within the facility.
• 8 x residents in the Thomas Buckland Wing have tested positive to covid during the outbreak. 2 x resident has since recovered well from the virus.
• 1 x resident in the LRW wing who tested positive to covid, remains in hospital receiving care – this resident would now be cleared from precautions in relation to isolation requirements.
• 2 x resident in the DCW wing remains positive for RSV
Residents in the TBW continue to undergo 2nd daily Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) to monitor and quickly identify any new cases. LRW residents will no longer require regime testing at this stage.
Unfortunately, due to 2 x RSV positive residents in DCW we have commenced segregation of rooms 1 – 16 – this is now classed as a RED zone.
In response to these cases and the high community transmission rates, we continue with the following measures to mitigate risk, by temporarily suspending facility wide gathering and activities. In wing activities are being conducted by our Diversional Therapy (DT) team to maintain engagement while minimizing cross contact as well as exercise with our physiotherapy team.
Where we can we are cohorting staff, assigning them to specific wings to reduce cross infection and further mitigate risk. Staff rooms have now been designated to the wings to further reduce cross over and infection.
ALL staff are required to wear N95 masks and face shield/goggles within the facility, along with completing a daily RAT before entering the facility. We request that our Visitors wear surgical masks and also undergo RAT upon entry please, N95 masks are available if you wish to use one of these whilst in the facility.
We continue to hold daily Outbreak Management Plan (OMP) meetings and are working closely with our Infection Control Lead and Public health Unit (PHU) to ensure that best practices are followed.
HEPA filters remain operational, and we continue to encourage increased ventilation throughout the facility. Thank you for assisting in keeping our residents safe.
Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact the facility on 4752 2500.
Warm Regards
Buckland Clinical Management team
