Dear Friends and Relatives of Buckland,

As you are aware we have on going refurbishments happening in our Donald Coburn and Liz Roberts wings and we are excited to announce that the first stage is almost complete!

The first stage of refurbishing the Donald Coburn Wing main lounge as well at the Liz Roberts wing upper and lower studio dining areas is due to be completed in the first or second week of November 2021. This means that we can start preparing for the next stage which includes starting on the residents’ rooms in the Liz Roberts Wing.

From now up until the completion of the refurbishment mid to late next year, there will only be eight resident rooms worked on at any one time. There have been four new rooms that have been created within the first stage of the refurbishments which will be used for dedicated respite stays in the future, but for now will be used to house residents while their rooms are being worked on. The remaining four residents will be temporarily relocated to other vacant rooms around the facility.

The group of rooms that have been arranged to be refurbished first will be Rooms 41 – 44 and 53 – 56. Residents in these rooms will most likely be transferred to their temporary rooms in the second week of November but when a specific date has been set, we will let you know. Their belongings will also be transferred to these temporary rooms by our maintenance staff and any items that do not fit will be stored at Buckland House. Relatives/Guardians are encouraged to collect any valuable or delicate items prior to the transfer to reduce any risk of damaged or lost property. Matthew Szucs, our building liaison officer can be contacted during business hours on 0478 172 288 and is available to answer any questions in regards to the refurbishment.

Relatives/Guardians will be contacted individually once it has been decided where residents will be transferred to and will also be advised regularly with any updates along the way including when residents will be able to return back to their newly refurbished rooms.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact myself on (02) 4752 2500.

Please stay safe and well.

Warm Regards,

Virginia Mitchell
