Restrictions Eased and Guidelines Update
11th October 2021
Dear Relatives and Friends of Buckland,
We are excited that visitors are now allowed to enter Buckland and be reunited with loved ones. In regard to our last letter we have received further direction form the Department of Health this morning.
From today, all stay at home orders across NSW are lifted and greater Sydney stay at home orders are re-lifted. Restrictions are eased to allow visitors in aged care facilities and residents are allowed to leave the facility. Travel will be permitted to aged care facilities within Greater Sydney includes Shellharbour, Wollongong, Blue Mountains and Central Coast. A risk assessment will be conducted by the Registered Nurse (RN) when a resident is leaving the facility, at this point in time residents are subject to a 7-day isolation and will be tested on day 5 if the outing is deemed high risk until further restrictions ease in NSW.
Masks are to be worn indoors within an aged care facility. A visitor may only remove their mask;
- while communicating with another person who is deaf or hard of hearing
- where clear enunciation or visibility of your mouth is essential
- when the removal of a face mask is necessary for the provision of a good or service.
Visitors must NOT enter the facility at all if they are the following:
- have been to any close, casual or monitor for symptoms locations in NSW OR Victoria, Queensland, and the Australian Capital Territory OR New Zealand in the last 14 days
- have COVID-19 symptoms
- are a close contact of a person with confirmed COVID-19 and are within their isolation period.
- live in a household with a person who is currently isolating.
- are waiting for a COVID-19 test result.
Further lifting of restrictions is expected to occur when NSW reached the 80% vaccination target and again on the 1st of December as per NSW roadmap guidelines. From the 11th of October 2021 residents are permitted to have two visitors per day provided that they are aged 12 years and over and have received a second dose of a COVID vaccination at least 14 days prior to their visit, except for end-of-life visits. Visits may be permitted in either the resident’s room or an outside area but not inside any communal areas like the main lounge and dining rooms.
Visitation will be under visitation hours of 9AM-5PM to enable us to ensure the 2 visitor per day is adhered to. If a resident is receiving END OF LIFE CARE, there is an exception for up to 2 unvaccinated people to visit the resident. They must always wear a mask and the visit must be solely inside the resident’s room. A Rapid antigen test will also be performed at the facility prior to entry.
People who are providing a service to the resident including health service (dietician, speech pathologist, psychologist, podiatrist etc.) are not counted towards the 2 visitors per day.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact myself on (02) 4752 2500.
Please stay safe and well.
