Visitor COVID-19 Vaccine Register
Dear Residents, Relatives and Friends of Buckland,
Firstly, I hope you’ve all been enjoying the lovely weather we’ve been having these past few days. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say it’s been a great first week of spring.
Yesterday afternoon we had another “outbreak scare” after a staff member received a positive COVID-19 test result. The team was quick in actioning our well-established outbreak plan, however within the hour we received notification that the staff member had been sent someone else’s positive test results. Naturally, we were pleased with the outcome.
At our most recent Relative Zoom meeting, which was held on the 1st of September, relatives were calling on Buckland to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations as a condition of entry for all visitors and students. Whilst we are generally in support of only allowing vaccinated people entry to our facility, there is no legal or health directive at present that states visitors must have the vaccination. Although, this has been mandated for influenza vaccinations.
If, however all residents would vote to implement mandatory COVID vaccinations as a condition of entry, we would be able to implement this. This issue will be brought to the governing Board of Directors at the upcoming Directors meeting for consideration. In the meantime we intend to issue a survey to both residents and relatives to get a better understanding of how the majority feels.
For now, we will be starting a voluntary register of COVID-19 vaccinations for visitors. You are under no obligation to provide your vaccination status to us; however, you are welcome to voluntarily supply this information.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the above, please don’t hesitate to reach out on 4752 2500.
